"NATURAL BEAUTY ENHANCEMENT & REJUVENATION"

Beauty is an art, we made of it a science. Aesthetic medicine is scientifically based, and is the area of anti-ageing medicine where we focus on the aspects of your beauty and silhouette linked to your ageing. Our goal is to perpetuate your beauty and protect it from the signs of age.

UNDERSTANDING FACIAL AGEING

Our skin ageing is caused by a complex interaction of the following mechanisms:

-GLYCATION is a process that makes our collagen harder and Elastin less flexible. This process is the same one responsible of the hardening of the arteries and of many other aspects of ageing.

-OXIDATIVE STRESS: Free radicals & oxidative stress (sun exposure, low antioxidant protection…) damage the skin cells and affect both their structure and DNA.

-LOW BlOOD FLOW: because of the hardening of the arteries and also the ageing of our cardiovascular system our skin gets less blood and oxygen.

-THINNER AND MORE FRAGILE SKIN: because of hormonal imbalances, environmental aggressions (pollution, UV…) imbalanced diet and because of the factors mentioned before.

-BONE AGEING: As we age our bones become less dense. This also happens in the face where the bony attaches of our face (muscles and skin) are weaker. Our teeth also support our mouth giving our cheeks and mouth some of their volume. Loss of dentition (Including wisdom teeth) also plays an important role in our face ageing.

-GRAVITATION: Skin continues to grow and to expand as we age (we have more skin). At the same time, our muscles and bones to support this excessive skin become weaker while gravity forces are still the same. The consequence is skin sagging.

As we get older, two components of our skin--collagen and Elastin--degenerate, setting the stage for the appearance of wrinkles, creases, folds, and furrows.

The breakdown of these components is accelerated by sun exposure and gravity, results in the sagging skin of old age.

FACIAL AGEING CHRONOLOGY

As early as the 20's the main symptoms of facial ageing begin to appear. Ageing of the skin is caused by external factors such as the sun, smoking and air pollution. At this age most of the damage is sun related.

In the 30's the upper eyelid skin starts to become loose and lines start to appear around the nose and mouth. In the late thirties the corners of the eyes and mouth start to droop downwards.

In the 40's wrinkles start to appear on the forehead; crow’s feet begin to appear around the eyes and the jaw line starts sagging and lead to the early formation of jowls. Cheeks are starting to flatten a little.

In the 50's the upper eyelid sagging may reach the eyelashes; the droop on the corners of the eye starts to give a 'sad' look. The nose tip tends to droop and wrinkles begin to appear around the lips and neck. The skin on the cheeks starts to become loose and the rounder cheeks of youth flatten.

In the 60's all wrinkles deepen and there is a decrease in eye size from the progressive encroachment from the surrounding lid skin. Skin also becomes thinner and drier.

In the 70's signs of advanced ageing appear making the face more skeleton like. By this age the muscle mass on the face has decreased by 40%.

Hair Health & Beauty

Hair loss is a very frequent problem is both males and females.

Many solutions are proposed. But before opting for any treatment, the most important is to understand the causes and mechanisms of hair loss because the success of any hair loss treatment depends on whether it addresses its cause or not.

Healthy and shiny hair plays a major role in our appearance and beauty. We do not have to have to suffer hair loss or hair problems to promote healthy and beautiful hair

UNDERSTANDING HAIR HEALTH

Hair is just like any other organ of the body. It is made of cells and requires regular blood, oxygen and nutrients supply.

We can then easily understand that to maintain hair growth and optimal health we need:

-OPTIMUM BLOOD FLOW Thus, a poor blood flow would cause hair loss. This could be in

  • Cardiovascular disease and conditions
  • Stress (Arterial spasm)
  • Blood disease can cause hair loss
  • HEREDITY++

A weakness of the arterial network of the scalp (skin of the top of the head) Just like some people have a weakness in their leg veins causing varix and varicose veins, some others have a weakness in their scalp arteries making them at a high risk of hair loss.

  • Head trauma
  • Medications
  • Hormonal imbalances (Androgenic alopecia)
  • -ADEQUATE OXYGENATION Oxygen is essential to every cell including hair cells to survive and function properly. A particular type of Oxygen therapy has been clinically proven to be effective in improving hair loss. Low oxygenation can occur in several situations like:

    • Chronic asthma
    • Smoking
    • High pollution or toxicity
    • Conditions like anaemia...

-ADEQUATE NUTRIENTS SUPPLY Hair cells require Glucose of course but have more specific needs.

    • Biotin for example is needed for healthy hair and skin. Good sources include brewer's yeast, brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts.
    • Proteins are essential for hair growth. Many diets to loose weight are poor in proteins. That explains why many people trying to lose weight report hair fall much faster than normal.

  • Essential fatty acids are also important for your hair texture and could be found in flaxseed oil, primrose oil, and salmon oil.
  • Vitamin B and C are also essential.
  • Zinc
  • The idea is not to enumerate all the nutrients that play a role in hair health and growth but to understand the importance of your diet as a possible cause of hair loss.

MOST FREQUENT CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS

    • Poor blood flow
    • Poor nutrition
    • Stress, either emotional or physical, for example during a major illness
    • Medications such as chemotherapy, allopurinol (Zyloprim®) and warfarine (Coumadin®)
    • Trauma (Hair dressing, Hair dryers…)
    • Hormone imbalances
    • Mineral imbalances (Click Here)
    • Kidney & Liver failure
    • Chemicals (Shampooing, conditioners, Hair colorants…)
    • Infections such as syphilis
    • Skin diseases such as lupus
    • Cancers

    HAIR TREATMENTS

Many treatments are proposed to deal with hair health and hair loss. Some of them are effective while some others only help in masking the problem. Hair treatments are medical and surgical and can be efficient at different levels depending on how suitable the treatment is for your conditions.
